One of the most pleasant
walks in Zion is along the banks of the Virgin
River to the Gateway to the Narrows. On
this chilly autumn day a few cottonwoods still
cling to their brilliant yellow fall foliage
while others have already adopted the stark
poses of winter. The sun casts its warm,
life giving glow on the red Navajo sandstone
cliffs. The river is calm and peaceful,
reflecting and mirroring the breathtaking beauty
through which it softly flows. The canyon
prepares itself for gentle winter, a time to
sleep, before the cycle starts again with the
vigor of spring.
Landscape photographers are
richly blessed. We get to shed the
distractions of daily life and open our eyes,
minds and hearts to the beauty that surrounds
us. We see delightful moments of
composition and light that we then get to share
with others. Our souls are cleansed and
enriched and hopefully yours too.
