The Angry Sea (2016)
The surf was unlike any I had seen before. I’ve seen the Pacific live up to its name, as peaceful and still as a lake. But on this trip, fifteen to twenty foot waves crushed the shore. This particular point of land at Garrapata State Park has yielded some magnificent surf photographs. But nothing before compared to the power, the chaos, the tumult, the danger of these waves. Even from a safe vantage point they can be terrifying. And energizing. It’s a tremendous thrill to witness such a scene, one I will never forget.
