Oh what a splendid sight to see the rays
of the sun falling on these ancient
palms as it first ascends above the
horizon.
For centuries this oasis has
provided sustenance, comfort and
inspiration for the desert creatures
that inhabit it.
The Serrano lived in this “place
of little springs and much grass”
because it was there belief that they
would have many boy children there.
Today it still provides a cool,
moist retreat in the oft harsh desert
any time of day.
But it’s at its very best at
sunrise.
