My
wanderings through the streets of
Delphi were nearly done.
That last couple of hours were an
opportunity to slow down and listen to
the many quite voices that whispered in
the village.
As I returned to our hotel the
street behind it called out and I turned
away from the entrance.
It wasn’t time to end these
magical moments just yet, not while
there were still more possibilities.
It was a
shady street – cool and out of the glare
of the bright Greek sun and sky.
Many picturesque houses lined the
street but one stood out.
The flowers growing from the
steps were the first to speak.
Then the door, the wall, the
courtyard behind.
It all felt welcoming, inviting,
mysterious.
Curiosity grows, even now when I
look at this scene.
What lies behind the portal?
What is the courtyard like?
And the dwelling it leads to?
And the people that live within?
The questions seem to have no
end.
