I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the role of the photographer as artist. I don’t think there’s doubt in anyone’s mind that photography can be a sublime art form.
But not all photography is art and not all photographers are artists. Just about everyone has a camera these days. In fact it seems you can’t buy a cell phone without one. Virtually everyone is taking pictures but not very many photographers are trying to produce art.

The download and installation (re-installation) of DxO is complete. It took the better part of an afternoon however. The DxO technologies site is (in)famous for slow downloads. It literally took a couple of hours to download the 500 MB file. But it’s done, DxO is installed and I had a brief opportunity to use it.

I just downloaded DxO 5.1 with support for the Canon 1Ds Mark III. Yea. After some frustrating experiences which turned out to NOT be DxO’s fault (see below) I’m eager to try it again with the new camera. Here’s the last of the previous postings.
