I just downloaded DxO 5.1 with support for the Canon 1Ds Mark III. Yea. After some frustrating experiences which turned out to NOT be DxO’s fault (see below) I’m eager to try it again with the new camera. Here’s the last of the previous postings.
The thing that got me really shook with my last DxO encounter was when Quick Books stopped working after an unsuccessful attempt at upgrading DxO. The problem turned out to be Microsoft .Net. After poking around on the Microsoft site I found out that you had to uninstall all versions of the .Net support software and reinstall. The uninstall was not trivial but the instructions were good and the whole process came off without a hitch.
But now, here’s the clincher. A couple of months after this unsettling experience (the thing I hate most about loosing your account software is loosing the receivables; I don’t feel near the anxiety over loosing payables) I got an urgent email from Intuit regarding, what else, Quick Books freezing up because of a problem with .Net. What was the fix? Uninstall and reinstall .Net.
Sometimes you get lucky and wind up ahead of the curve.
So now it’s a matter of finding the time to install DxO 5.1. Sounds simple enough until you realize that I have images from the beginning of April that I want to work on and haven’t touched yet. That’s a bit of a backup I’d say.
Stay tuned.
