It was a couple of years ago when I was shooting in the Columbia River Gorge up in Oregon when a fellow photographer (a stranger, not a friend) laid this stinging remark on me. But let me explain.
We were photographing Bridal Vail falls and a Nikon camera club happened to be there at the same time. Near the falls was one of those plaques that explain the geology, history and whatnot. Standing next to me as I read the plaque was a gal from the camera club. When I finished I headed back to the falls and left her with a friendly, “Have a nice day.”
And what was her response? “I’ll have a nicer day than you. I’m not shooting a Canon.”
Oh my! Poor kid.
Photography has almost as many religious wars as, well, religion – or politics. Nikon vs. Canon. Mac vs. PC. Lightroom vs. Photoshop. Film vs. digital. You get the idea.
Personally, when you can create two prints from competing sides of an argument, put them side by side and can tell which is which then I’m interested. Otherwise, I could care less.

Ralph, I was a local photography workshop led by one of our local newspaper photographers. When someone asked him what camera does he use he replied, ” A black one!” He clearly and simply made his point.
