margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"aspen_spring_2011\" src=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/aspen_spring_2011.jpg\" alt=\"aspen_spring_2011\" width=\"190\" height=\"260\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s start with this one.\u00a0 In June the South Fork of Bishop Creek, somewhere between Bishop and South Lake, spring is just getting started.\u00a0 And you can find a stand of aspen and willow that are just starting to dress themselves in their summer garb.\u00a0 I really like this scene.\u00a0 It feels balanced and uplifting.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/eastern-sierra-gallery\/content\/lone_pine_creek_vignette_2011_large.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"lone_pine_creek_vignette_2011\" src=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/lone_pine_creek_vignette_2011.jpg\" alt=\"lone_pine_creek_vignette_2011\" width=\"260\" height=\"190\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another photograph that I like a lot is this one.\u00a0 It\u2019s a vignette of Lone Pine Creek at Whitney Portal.\u00a0 It\u2019s not one of those WOW images but rather just a quite statement amidst the roar of the cascade.\u00a0 (If you\u2019ve ever been to Whitney Portal you know exactly what I\u2019m talking about.)\u00a0 The trickle of water slipping over the rocks feels graceful.\u00a0 But what really makes this image for me and what attracted me to it in the first place is that little patch of green back under the overhanging rock.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/eastern-sierra-gallery\/index.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"eastern_sierra_2011\" src=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/eastern_sierra_2011.jpg\" alt=\"eastern_sierra_2011\" width=\"260\" height=\"190\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I never tire of driving up and down US 395 with the Sierra crest towering up to two miles above our heads to the west.\u00a0 Time of day, clear skies, storm, it doesn\u2019t matter.\u00a0 I always get a crick in my neck.\u00a0 But when you have a morning like this with storm weather and early morning sun, dramatic light and brightly painted clouds, well, it\u2019s magic.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/eastern-sierra-gallery\/content\/lone_pine_peak_2011_large.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"lone_pine_peak_2011\" src=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/lone_pine_peak_2011.jpg\" alt=\"lone_pine_peak_2011\" width=\"260\" height=\"190\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lone Pine Peak may be photographed more than Mt Whitney.\u00a0 Both peaks tower over the little town of Lone Pine and the ever fascinating Alabama Hills.\u00a0 But Lone Pine Peak is much more dominant than the higher Mt Whitney, largely because it\u2019s closer and Whitney is set farther back.\u00a0 When I saw this light on the peak I had to try to capture the mood.\u00a0 The inspiration was instantaneous.\u00a0 The results, very satisfying.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/eastern-sierra-gallery\/content\/spring-storm-mt-williamson-2011_large.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"mt_williamson_2011\" src=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/mt_williamson_2011.jpg\" alt=\"mt_williamson_2011\" width=\"260\" height=\"190\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s conclude with this one.\u00a0 You know, things happen pretty fast on mornings like this.\u00a0 Slap a long lens on, swing your camera around and, BAM, kick it up a notch.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think commentary is necessary for this one.\u00a0 (I\u2019ve been trying for years to get this peak.\u00a0 Patience pays off.)<\/p>\n<p>The Eastern Sierra is one of the most photogenic areas in California.
