The Making of 40 Photographs: Tenaya Creek, Dogwood, Rain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As I continue reading Ansel Adam\u2019s fascinating book, &#8221;Examples The Making of 40 Photographs\u201d I continue to come across insights that I wish to share with you.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Ansel-Adams-Tenaya-Creek-Spring-Rain-1948-600.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"Ansel Adams - Tenaya Creek, Spring Rain, 1948-600\" src=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Ansel-Adams-Tenaya-Creek-Spring-Rain-1948-600_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"Ansel Adams - Tenaya Creek, Spring Rain, 1948-600\" width=\"628\" height=\"500\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTenaya Creek Dogwood Rain\u201d was taken one overcast spring day in 1948 as Adams was out looking for dogwoods to photograph.\u00a0 He notice something along Tenaya Creek up by Mirror Lake and went exploring.\u00a0 It was starting to rain and he almost returned to his car and the warmth of his accommodation when this scene caught his eye.\u00a0 He went back to his car to retrieve his photographic gear including his 8X10 view camera.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m really taken by this photograph.\u00a0 The light is perfect.\u00a0 The white dogwood bracts glow against the green foliage.\u00a0 It has a feeling of both intimacy and grandeur.\u00a0 I would love to have a print.\u00a0 It would be so easy to get lost in it.<\/p>\n<p>The comments that Adams made that caught my attention (besides this beautiful photograph) deal with the inspiration the artist feels when interacting with a subject.\u00a0 They are perfect and I must share them with you.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe photographer learns to seek the essential qualities of his environment, no matter where he may be.\u00a0 By this I mean he should be tuned to respond to every situation.\u00a0 It is not enough to like or dislike;
