It was without a doubt the most exciting display of the power of the Pacific Ocean I have ever witnessed.\u00a0 Huge waves came rolling in, annihilating the cliff.\u00a0 It was electrifying to behold.\u00a0 I think the workshop participants were chuckling in their sleeves because each time a large set came in I got as excited as a little kid at the circus.\u00a0 This wave was the biggest of them all and you can see that it rises the full Height of the 50 foot cliff.\u00a0 But I must tell you, it does not show the full extent of the immense splash which was at least half again as high.\u00a0 I chose this one, however, because of the why the wave is climbing the face of the cliff with enormous energy, power and majesty.<\/p>\n<p>Third place went to McWay Cove Sunset.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/mcway_cove_sunset_130806.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 15px auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"mcway_cove_sunset_130806\" src=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/mcway_cove_sunset_130806_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"mcway_cove_sunset_130806\" width=\"660\" height=\"447\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have never seen such beautiful light on this over-photographed waterfall and cove.\u00a0 Well, I say over-photographed but I always look forward to returning here, no matter how many times I\u2019ve been here before.\u00a0 But of all the times I\u2019ve been here, and I\u2019ve captured this scene in some very beautiful light, this was the most magical moment of all.\u00a0 What makes it even more special is this fantastic light lasted for a maximum of two minutes.\u00a0 You snooze, you loose.<\/p>\n<p>Number four is another tranquil image, a serene moment caught at the end of an energetic sunset (the same sunset that captured the Pfeiffer Beach Tunnel photograph).\u00a0 Walking back to the car I turned around and saw the crescent moon and evening star hanging in the blue of twilight above the beach.\u00a0 It was one of those impulse moments where I had to capture it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/pfeiffer_beach_twilight_131105.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 15px auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"pfeiffer_beach_twilight_131105\" src=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/pfeiffer_beach_twilight_131105_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"pfeiffer_beach_twilight_131105\" width=\"660\" height=\"447\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sometimes less is more and this is certainly one of them.\u00a0 It marks the end of a totally satisfying day.<\/p>\n<p>Number five is Sand Dollar Beach at high tide.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/sand_dollar_beach_131105.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 15px auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"sand_dollar_beach_131105\" src=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/sand_dollar_beach_131105_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"sand_dollar_beach_131105\" width=\"660\" height=\"447\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This beautiful crescent beach is one of the few stretches of sand along the 100 miles of the Big Sur coast.\u00a0 The tide was coming all the way up to the feet of the cliffs and the surf formed row upon row of advancing cherub-white crescents gracefully pushing toward the sand.<\/p>\n<p>In sixth place is the sunset at Point Lobos.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/point_lobos_131107.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 15px auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"point_lobos_131107\" src=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/point_lobos_131107_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"point_lobos_131107\" width=\"660\" height=\"447\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This beautiful sunset was another first.\u00a0 I\u2019ve photographed Point Lobos many times but this was the most beautiful sunset yet encountered.<\/p>\n<p>Seven is Big Sur Sunset.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/big_sur_sunset_131104.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 15px auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"big_sur_sunset_131104\" src=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/big_sur_sunset_131104_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"big_sur_sunset_131104\" width=\"660\" height=\"447\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Besides another beautiful sunset, for me this scene at the southern end of Big Sur marks the gateway that opens to the wonders up the coast.\u00a0 It shows where the shore line changes from a bench to the mighty Santa Lucia Mountains, the range that gives Big Sur its unique character.\u00a0 I like to take the workshops here because this gives them a taste of what\u2019s to come.<\/p>\n<p>Last but not least is Limekiln Falls.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/lime-kiln-falls-130806.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none;
