{"id":599,"date":"2009-10-19T07:42:10","date_gmt":"2009-10-19T15:42:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/2009\/10\/19\/arriving-after-the-light-is-gone\/"},"modified":"2018-09-09T18:57:43","modified_gmt":"2018-09-10T02:57:43","slug":"arriving-after-the-light-is-gone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/2009\/10\/19\/arriving-after-the-light-is-gone\/","title":{"rendered":"Arriving after the Light is Gone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>How often do I see people arriving at a great site about the time I\u2019m packing up and heading back?\u00a0 It happened again this morning.\u00a0 I was photographing the West Temple and Alter of Sacrifice from half way up the tunnel road.\u00a0 Granted, I get to a site a little on the early side.\u00a0 The 45 minutes before sunrise rule gets stretched a little.\u00a0 I like to arrive while the stars are still out.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 I just like the quite time.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->But the real action does start 45 minutes before sunrise and goes for a half hour after the sun is up, maybe 45 minutes on a good morning.\u00a0 Before the sun comes up you may be treated to the mysterious alpenglow if you\u2019re fortunate enough.\u00a0 This is when the east facing faces begin to glow as if from a fire within.\u00a0 There\u2019s really nothing quite like it.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/A1P2189.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border: 0px;\" title=\"(c) 2009 by Ralph Nordstrom\" src=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/A1P2189_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"(c) 2009 by Ralph Nordstrom\" width=\"264\" height=\"184\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 This photograph was taken 25 minutes before sunrise.<\/p>\n<p>Then there\u2019s first light.\u00a0 This is another magical time when the first rays of the sun strike the peak.\u00a0 The light is still soft but now it is very warm.\u00a0 This light lasts for maybe three minutes.\u00a0 This is the beginning of the peak of the golden hour.\u00a0 In truth, the golden hour isn\u2019t anywhere close to an hour.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ralphnordstromphotography.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/A1P2233.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block;
