Lodging: Our base of operations in each park will be one of the local hotels. In Bryce Canyon we will be staying at the Best Western hotel. In Zion, we'll be staying at one of Springdale's many hotels. You will receive instructions on how to book your rooms when you sign up.
Transportation: If you're flying in, the recommended city to fly into is Las Vegas. It's about a 4hr drive to either park.
Physical Difficulty: Moderate to difficult. Some of the locations in Bryce Canyon are on short but steep trails. And the elevation of 8,000 feet make them more strenuous. The shooting locations in Zion are near the car or the shuttle although some require up to two miles of easy walking along the Virgin River. Good balance and moderate stamina is required.
We begin the workshop in Zion National Park. After checking in we will enjoy a special sunset shoot in a little known location along the Virgin River. And the fun continues for three more days, giving us a chance to become intimately familiar with Zion and its surroundings at a time when it is not so crowded.
On Wednesday we relocate to Bryce Canyon National Park. This time of the year the light is exquisite. The sunrises at the several viewpoints above the amphitheater are stunning. And for the sunsets we have locations outside the park. At this time of year there is a possibility of an early winter storm that can leave a dusting of snow on the hoodoos.
This workshop combines the best that Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks and surrounding areas have to offer.
A typical day begins with a morning shoot and ends with sunset. Some days we're photographing most of the day. On other days we have classes and photo reviews in the middle of the day. While in the field we provide one-on-one help with the areas that are important to you. Our goal is to broaden your technical skills and unleash the artist in you.
Ocrober is a beautiful times to be in Southwest Utah. In Zion here is a chance that the cottonwoods along the Virgin River still display their autumn colors. In Bryce Canyon the air is crystal clear and the sunrises are spectacular.
If you're planning on attending either the Zion or Bryce Canyon photography workshops, you might want to consider combining them into one memorable week of photography. The Super Utah photography workshop gives you the full Southwest Utah experience.
You can find photography workshops with big name photographers and prices to match. But you will be hard pressed to find photography workshops that offer greater value than ours.
Come join us in Southwest Utah in October. You will find regeneration and inspiration here.
